1. For removing push rivets
Push rivets are used to secure the lower side cowl, mudguard and other parts of the YZF-R125 (5D7W).
These can be removed by using this dowel pin punch to push in the middle pin of the push rivet.
<Removing and installing push rivets>
As the diameter of the push rivet projection is approx. 4.5 mm, a dowel pin punch with nominal diameter: 4 mm is actually the right size.
However, when the moto is lifted on the rear stand, it will not fit under the lower side cowl.
So, a shorter overall length, nominal diameter: 3 mm, is used.

3. Product Review
1) Good points
- Hexagonal, so it certainly won’t roll off.
- When removing the push rivet, the middle pin can be pushed in securely
- Kind with chucking rubber (to guide the dowel pin when press-fitting it)
2) Unsatisfied points
- Surprisingly, the tips of the push rivet pins get damaged. (Be indented with a round mark)
- The red cover covering the handle moves a little.
- I am likely to lose the chucking rubber if I remove it, so I leave it on when I use it.
4. Summary
A dowel pin punch can be used to remove push rivets.
To be honest, to remove a push rivet, it doesn’t have to be a dowel pin punch, a pencil will do.
But it would be a waste not to use a tool that is available, so we make full use of it.
